He and Borges had widespread interests in German expressionistic poetry, the works of Emanuel Swedenborg, Algernon Charles Swinburne and William Blake, and Peinture Diamant Eastern philosophy, particularly Buddhism and the I Ching. Homer found inspiration in summer season trips to the North Woods Club, near the hamlet of Minerva, New York, in the Adirondack Mountains. Largely self-taught, Homer started his career working as a commercial illustrator. Also around that time, he began to pay extra attention to diamond painting, first with watercolor (which would all the time remain his primary medium as a painter), though he regularly began working in tempera and — very sometimes — oils. After the American Civil War, Homer turned his consideration primarily to scenes of childhood and Diamond Painting younger ladies, reflecting nostalgia for less complicated instances, both his own and the nation as an entire.
Although the drawings didn’t get a lot consideration at the time, they mark Homer’s increasing skills from illustrator to painter.
